Shine 04:39
When the pond turns to mist Well, you are here And the sun goes to set But you stay clear If it wasn’t you, if it wasn’t you If it wasn’t you, if it wasn’t you Oh I'd chase When the shore stops to dry Well, you’re still here And the grass start to shine Well, you are clear If it wasn’t you, if it wasn’t you Oh I'd waste I’m gone, I’m gone, for a moment you see not long, just a moment When the sun goes to blind You stay clear And the world unwinds Well you are mine I’m gone, I’m gone, for a moment you see not long. ---------

Tell me you love him He needs you You wouldn’t But it's not the same I promise I need you It's just not that see through Now, this way Oh, I should have known Oh, I should have known I’d know by now Tell me he loves you He cares not above you But it's not the same Tell me I'm dreaming I’ll see you and feel you this way Ohh I should have known I should have known I’d know by now I'm still waiting I'm waiting to change Change, I still love you I'm still waiting, I'm waiting to change Change I can’t love you.

Better Alone 03:44
Your cigarettes stopped burning You're playing dumb it's working I think we go it alone No need to think so I’m drinking No need to sink but I’m thinking I think I go it alone Pick me up Pick me up Your drinking lips are speaking Empty words flow leaving I think I do it alone No need to wait so I’m wasting No need for fate so I’m tasting I think I’m better alone Pick me up Pick me up Your cigarettes stopped burning You're playing dumb it's working I think I go it alone You played the field and who’s boasting? A devil's deal of old potions It's never better alone Pick me Pick me up

Stop ghost! Keep your spirits to yourself Hot, cold There’s no difference, I’m not well Flesh shell Got my feelings from someone else Sly eyes Well you’re the devil in disguise It tells me more than you tell me It tells me more Oh Hell! Keep your wisdom for yourself Thought I, well I’m a cluster of your lies You and me We were made together You and I There's no real forever It tells me more than you tell me It tells me more I’m not coping well (are you coping well?)

Statues 03:44
But heroes never last Again, times wasted And you make up your past A friend of old age And the moments on your back The weight of a true sage And these moments are the last of today Turn off the program Now... Statues in a room The west wind blowing with the blue A roof, a bed When the missing don’t come back A drop in the ocean The mirror shows the cracks Young guns, fall broken Heroes aren’t built to last Outgrown, times changing Why can living feel so bad When life’s good well, I’m joking Statues in a room The west wind blowing with the blue A roof, a bed
6.
I’m picking out who I’ll turn too When the world's gone And the bird's song is Silence Escape Silence Escapes And when it calls The wind will fall And the desert's plains Won’t move again Just silence Escape Just silence Escapes I used to be a laugh Or so I’m told And when we're gone Like the burst of a sun Won't you feel the shame Of our love again Or Silence Escape Silence Escapes And once absorbed We won't feel no more Like the winter's haze Will leave no trace Just Silence Mistakes Silence Escapes I used to be a laugh Or so I’m told

Santa Muerte 04:18
Smoke covered skies Behind them, I’ll lie Your picture got lost like me Days, dark as night Your lips now feel dry You're waiting for me to come When I pass with the clouds Don’t look up, just keep down And while you live your life Just know you made mine We both lied No heavens to find Your picture got lost like me When I pass with the clouds Don’t look up, just keep down And while you live your life Just know you made mine

Supermoon 04:49
Inspired to be bored and sleep Conspire to be more than me Not higher, I just wish water would make me grow Mismatched, the thoughts of dreams Dispatched, where the moon is hinged I’m not in a place to know Misjudged, I’m broken again To Adjust, but broken again, and again No harm in the little things Alarms are the silent scenes it's hard but it's easy to let go So bright, the moons breaking up This flight is just taking off My life is just waiting for this ship to go Misjudged, I’m broken again To adjust but broken again, and again

Lispectre 05:43
Breathe, we all do breathe Believe, we still believe To leave what do you see? To feel the ones you need? At face, we still use race Believe, we all do leave To need, to see, to be the ones you leave To see, to be, to feel, the ones you leave To be, what do we leave Release, when do we see We love to hate to see the ones we need We love to hate to be the ones we see I just have to, I don’t want to be I just have to, I don’t want to feel It's in this whole wide world

about

“The World Began With A Yes”, is a distinct venture from The Silkstones initial releases, moving into a more natural fit of ambient and atmospheric rock. The album aims to provide a dreamlike feel, carrying the listener along with harmonies and violin. Thematically the album contemplates the universal question of our existence, a reoccurrence in times of hardship. The albums collaborative and dynamic approach allows open interpretation and empathy while encouraging the listener to push on and be positive. Ultimately, the message is to make the most of the lives we’ve been given.

The record was written, produced and engineered by The Silkstones at Aux Studios. The album was recorded over a four-month period starting in late December 2016 and finishing in April 2017.

All songs were written by the songwriting partnership of Ryan Phillips and Dylan Jerome Wagner, who took influences from a variety of artists and albums, primarily The Beach Boys’ “Pet Sounds”, George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass”, Owen’s “L’Ami du Peuple” and U2’s “Joshua Tree”

The Silkstones are Ryan Phillips (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dylan Jerome Wagner (guitar, bass, harmonies) Megan Brown (violin, harmonies) and Blake Lowry /Skyler Bjorn (percussion).

We would like to say a special thanks to Darrin Kingston, Carlos Aguirre, Wade Scott Eliason, Miriam and Derrick Wagner, Stephen and Estelle Phillips, Steven William Foord, Daniel Enns, Blake Lowry, Evan Ushenko , Tumja Phillips and Miranda Lantz.
